This position requires travel within the San Antonio Metro Area. Candidate must have their own reliable transportation. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Overview:
The LPAC Clerk/EL Assistant will provide administrative support to the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) and assist in meeting the needs of English Learners (ELs). This role is essential in supporting the district's Bilingual/ESL program in compliance with Texas Education Code, Chapter 89, the Bilingual Education Allotment (BEA), and federal Title III grant requirements. The EL Assistant will ensure accurate documentation and reporting for English Learners and provide supplementary instructional support as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
1. LPAC Clerk:
- Organize paperwork for LPAC meetings, including scheduling, preparing documentation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Work with EL/EB Coordinator to maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including initial identification, annual reviews, and reclassification of EL students.
- Monitor deadlines for state required assessments, including TELPAS and STAAR.
- Ensure that LPAC decisions regarding student placement and instructional supports are properly documented and communicated to all relevant staff and parents.
2. Data Entry and Record Keeping:
- Input and maintain EL student data in district software (Frontline/eSPED), ensuring accuracy and compliance with state reporting requirements.
- Manage files, records, and documents related to LPAC meetings and EL services, including Bilingual/ESL program enrollment, parent notifications, and testing accommodations.
- Assist EL/EB Coordinator with reports for district administration, ensuring alignment with BEA and Title III funding guidelines.
3. Instructional Support:
- Assist the EB/EL Coordinator by preparing the instructional materials for students.
- Assist classroom teachers by providing supplemental instructional support to English Learners, as needed, under the direction of the EB/EL Coordinator.
4. Communication and Parent Engagement:
- Assist EB/EL Coordinator to facilitate Title III Parent Engagement activities, including workshops, meetings, and events designed to help parents support their children’s language development and academic success.
- Work with the EB/EL Coordinator to plan parent workshops, distribute educational resources, and increase parent involvement in their child’s education.
5. Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated on state and federal requirements related to Bilingual/ESL programs and best practices for supporting EL students.
- Collaborate with campus staff and administrators to support the implementation of EL strategies and ensure compliance with BEA and Title III standards.
Qualification
- Experience working in an educational setting, preferably with Bilingual/ESL programs.
- Proficiency in data entry and record management, with specific experience using Frontline/ESPED systems for LPAC documentation and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of LPAC processes and requirements, including accurate and timely data entry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
