POSITION SUMMARY

BASIS is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Interventionist to support students with significant cognitive and/or developmental disabilities. This role focuses on empowering students through a functional curriculum designed to foster independence and prepare them for successful transitions to adulthood within their communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a learning environment that prioritizes communication, independence, and skill generalization in natural settings.
  • Collaborate and co-teach with general education teachers to integrate students into classroom activities with typical peers and facilitate inclusive learning experiences.
  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction, often in a lower student-teacher ratio, to meet each student’s academic, behavioral, and developmental needs.
  • Foster a classroom atmosphere that promotes respect, collaboration, and meaningful participation.
  • Utilize evidence-based strategies and assistive technologies to support diverse learning needs.
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction to align with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
  • Support Dyslexia minutes and intervention
  • Partner with families, therapists, and other stakeholders to support students' holistic development and ensure a cohesive approach to their education.
