BASIS Ed Shavano Campus is seeking experienced candidates for a College Guidance Coordinator to join our amazing team!

Teach a daily college counseling workshop to 12th graders, assisting students with researching, building, and balancing their college lists, managing application deadlines, college essay review and writing advice, discussing admissions and financial aid decisions, and assisting with college choice discussions
Prepare and send school supporting documents to colleges and scholarship organizations in support of student applications; tasks include writing letters of recommendation, preparing and sending secondary school report information, sending transcripts, school profile, and teacher letters of recommendation using SCOIR.
Organize and host meetings for students and families throughout the year, along with other special events that include College Night, grade level student and parent programs, on-campus college fair, and other events
Share scholarship, academic and summer program, and other college counseling related information with students, parents and faculty using various communication platforms
Establish and maintain relationships with college representatives; follow up with college representatives on behalf of students who may have missing items and/or provide additional support for student applications
Collaborate frequently with College Counseling colleagues to ensure best practices when working with and advising students and families
Participate in professional development opportunities that include:
Representing the school at college informational programs
Attending college sponsored events, such as in-person and virtual college updates
Meeting with college representatives who visit campus
Attending workshops hosted by professional organizations (TACAC, NACAC, College Board, etc.)
College Guidance Coordinators will also serve as the Senior Project Coordinator (SPC). Students, in consultation with a faculty adviser and on-site mentor, propose an off-campus Senior Project of their own choice and design. The Senior Project Coordinator (SPC) responsibilities include:
Assist students and families with understanding the requirements of the Senior Project, including developing a project proposal, writing weekly blogs, presenting their experience to the local community, and creating a final product.
Communicate with outside entities about the Senior Project to assist students in securing their off-site experience.
Serve as a liaison between the faculty adviser, on-site mentor, and student throughout the student's project, ensuring all parties understand the expectations and responsibilities of their role.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum: A Bachelor's degree. A Master's degree is preferred.
Preferred: Together with a high level of educational attainment, a successful applicant will demonstrate strong communication skills in speaking with parents, students; editing essays, and writing letters of recommendation. Critically, an applicant must possess a high GPA in his/her major, excellent employment recommendations, and experience working with students and parents.
