As a BASIS first grade teacher, you are the Learning Expert Teacher in a two-teacher, co-teaching environment. Partnered with a Subject Expert Teacher, you will use your expertise to address the differentiated needs of your students. Learning Expert Teachers (LETs) are masters of the learning process and of social-emotional growth in students. They accompany their students all day, from class to class, and ensure that the Subject Expert Teachers (SET) are reaching each and every child in the class. LETs also play a lead role in literacy and Connections classes. As a BASIS Learning Expert Teacher, you will utilize your expertise in elementary education teaching methods to provide individualized or small group instruction to meet the differentiated needs of students and establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a positive learning atmosphere.

Other Duties Include, But are not limited to:

• Evaluating students’ academic and social growth, keeping appropriate records, and preparing progress reports
• Communicating with parents via email, conferences, and other means to discuss student progress
• Identifying student needs and cooperating with the Subject Experts or other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems
• Providing differentiated instruction and executing IEP’s and 504 Plans with fidelity
• Substitute/duty coverage as needed
• Supervise students during classroom transitions throughout the day
• Occasionally represent BASIS Ed Texas at designated school wide community events outside of typical school hours

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Eligible to work in Texas Public Schools. A Bachelor’s degree in Education or related subject. Ability to obtain a valid fingerprint clearance through TEA.

Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years of experience as an elementary educator. Master’s degree in Education or related subject.

Benefits and Salary: Starting Teacher Salary is $41,000 and is negotiable dependent on education and experience. BASIS Ed offers a comprehensive benefits package.
